A Lot of Love Can Happen on a Porch

Sometimes the most powerful ministry doesn’t happen on a stage — it happens on a porch.

Right outside The Pool Store, at 13 John Davenport Dr., Rome, GA 30165, sits a simple donation bin for Loving Others Ministry. To many, it may look ordinary. But to Loving Others Ministry, Inc., that bin is sacred ground.

That bin represents a business that dares to care.

Because of that porch — and the generosity of The Pool Store — gently used clothing flows into the hands of volunteers, onto rolling racks, and ultimately into the lives of men and women experiencing homelessness across Rome and Floyd County. Shirts become dignity. Coats become warmth. Shoes become hope.

But it doesn’t stop there.

Every bag placed in that bin helps fuel a Gospel-centered mission. Those clothes are sorted and distributed at outreach locations where the name of Jesus is spoken freely, Scripture is shared openly, and love is given without condition. For many we serve, a clean outfit opens the door to a conversation — and that conversation opens the door to the Good News.

This bin makes it possible for Loving Others Ministry to:

• Equip volunteers for weekly outreach

• Support ongoing distributions at community partner locations

• Meet immediate physical needs while pointing hearts to eternal hope

• Serve with consistency, dignity, and compassion

The Pool Store didn’t just offer space — they offered partnership. They didn’t just host a bin — they hosted a mission.

So, the next time you drive by and see that bin on the porch, remember: what’s placed there doesn’t just fill a trailer — it helps change lives.

Thank you, The Pool Store, for proving that loving others sometimes starts with simply making room for them.
